When compared to all other options for bordering flower beds, concrete landscape curbing is one of the most durable and cost-effective choices with excellent longevity of 20 years or more. Concrete landscape curbing adds instant curb appeal and provides an excellent barrier to stop weeds and lawn from encroaching into the flower beds. It is also a very good retainer of mulch where heavy rain might wash mulch out of the beds.

Concrete curbing lasts 20 years or more when properly cared for and maintained. Damage to curbing can result from large tree roots, settling soil and vehicular traffic and this damage should be repaired as soon as possible to maintain the beauty and integrity of the product. We include a control joint every 4-6 feet to minimize these occurrences. It is important to understand that while extremely durable, your edging is not indestructible. Pushing a wheelbarrow full of rock over your edging may cause it to crack. If you need to get rock inside your bed, then use a ramp to keep the weight off the edging. Running your mower on the side of the edging can leave unsightly scratches that diminish the beauty of your edging. A string trimmer should be used to trim the grass around your edging.
-
Mark any sprinkler heads or utility lines in the area of install. Existing edging should remain in place until after your new curbing has dried. This helps keep the area clear of any obstructions. Should any sprinkler heads need to be relocated, we can take care of this for you.

Most jobs take 1-2 days.

Your edging will be dry to the touch within 3 hours. At this point it can withstand rain. Your edging can be damaged if you bump it within the first 24 hours. Concrete is considered fully cured after 28 days. Let your lawn service know not to trim or edge during the first 30 days.
-
Pressure washing your edging is not recommended as it can seriously damage the surface of your curb. Just a quick wash off with a spray nozzle attached to your hose will work. For any stubborn areas, a stiff scrubbing brush may be used.
-
Your curbing has been sealed with 2 coats of a “Same Day” Sealer which offers excellent protection from the weather short term. The sealer protects the colored concrete for up to 2 years. We recommend that you have us reseal the edging every 18 months. This will close the pores and help keep the curb mold and mildew resistant. DO NOT apply sealers that are sold at retail stores as it may adversely affect the properties of your colored concrete curb beyond repair.
-
The sealed curbing will appear glossy at first but will settle down to a matte finish.

After 2 days.

We also offer custom rain drains. This provides additional curb appeal, allowing you to do away with metal or plastic gutter extensions.

Over time tree roots may lift and break your edging. Control joints help control cracking. Any cracking should occur at the control joints allowing you to lift that section of edging. Remove or shave the tree roots back down and replace the curbing section along with fill dirt for support.
